April 24th, 2007Kenmare Pure Festival - Music for all tastes!

The celebrations will commence on Friday night at 9pm with a traditional Dancing at the Crossroads ceremony with a top Ceili Band and a troupe of accomplished set dancers. All are invited and participation is the name of the game so bring your dancing shoes! This will run until 10.30 when the rhythm and dance will move from the open air to Kenmare’s top indoor pub venues which will host an eclectic selection of live musicians.

On Saturday are two exciting music workshops by world renowned guitarist Jeff Martin and one of Ireland’s finest percussionists Wayne Sheehy.
The Grand Parade will feature the sounds of the excellent Millstreet Pipe Band. After the parade Macteo will continue performing on the Pure Festival Gig Rig this will be followed by 2FM D.J. Rick O’Shea who will get the streets of Kenmare, along with all their inhabitants, rocking to its very own Beat on the Street! He will be followed by the lively ethnic Cajun outfit Two Time Polka. Something to suit all musical tastes, without a doubt. At 10.30 pm after the kids have been put to bed exhausted but happy, local pubs will again showcase a diverse range of bands and performers until the early hours. How late you stay is up to you….
If you would prefer something a little more laid back the Pure Festival Guinness and Oyster Jazz Brunch with ‘Jazzinatra’ at the Brook Lane Hotel at 2pm on Sunday may be more up your street!
The festival draws to a reluctant close on Sunday night with several live music venues around the town.
